Guardians who wear collars/ bandannas have accepted humankind and allowed them to tag them.
Space Guardians have had a curious origin. They began from a single material substance being unearthed by two colliding space rocks; The collision chipped the hard stone and uncovered a squishy gel. Over time, the magic in the gel animated and became the first of an entire species; The baby space creature wandered the galaxy with no real purpose and eventually found itself on Earth. There, the friendly creature befriended a village of people and stayed with them for its life span. It grew larger than anyone was expecting, but what could you really expect from a random space critter? It watched generations live in the village, and it too grew tired over time. It lost its fur and its tail thinned out; The magic halo and wings that glowed so proudly manifested into a physical form, and out of nowhere, an orb formed in its gel. They protected the orb and eventually, it passed away too. The village mourned the loss of their friend. Days passed and the village was startled when a mini version of the creature came strolling down the path. The orb the first creature had carried was, in some regards, an egg. Creating new life, the cycle repeated. The space creatures came and went, some staying with the village and others wandering further out.
Over time, the critters found a purpose. Some found it out in the wild; others found it with the people and would allow the people to give them bandanas or collars to symbolize their relationship with humanity. Many decorated themselves with their favorite objects, making it their entire personality; this was how the people learned how prideful the space creatures could be. They would guard their possessions with such vigor that they would grow aggressive if someone tried to adopt the same traits. The people nicknamed the creatures, the space guardians, because of how extensively they'd defend their objects. They also gave a nickname to the older guardians in their last stage of life; the guardians who lived for hundreds of years were slowly fading. They were announced to be the gods of the species even if they had no special powers. They were simply respected for living such a full life, and for holding the future of their species.
The people never could find out what the gel was, but it was what made the creatures and they would respect it.
FAQ
-
How do The SpaceGuardians eat?
-
While eating is unnecessary, they do have mouths and can eat anything organic and inorganic.
-
-
Why are the God Guardians closed?
-
For story reasons. As the Guardians age, they lose their fur and begin developing the egg. They become extremely protective and more aggressive. This leads many of them to attack other Guardians who have similar themes to them, usually resulting in only one God Guardian in a generation for each theme. Therefore, I would like this subsection of the Guardians to stay relatively small.

Can Guardians have similar themes?
-
Yes. This would be a very hard thing to try and be strict about, so it's just open to everyone. But as a rule of thumb, just don't copy any official Serp Guardian themes. However, You can do something similar for example Serp made: "The Holiday Space Guardian" And you made "The Christmas Space Guardian." Guardian names mean a lot to them as they define who they are. Space guardians are very curious creatures and once they find their theme, they decorate themselves with it. They are also very prideful creatures, "no one wants to wear the same shirt to the party" basically. Make sense?

Can Guardians talk?
-
Most can not, but some have developed telepathy.

-
Do Guardians have magic?
-
They can. The jelly the Guardians are made of is magic, sometimes when they pick their theme and develop themselves to fit it, they will also evolve a magic type that matches it. For example; "The Sea Guardian" develops water magic.
